Regular Season Round 7: UE Varna - Beroe-2 108-89

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Varna. Leader UE Varna faced 3rd placed Beroe-2. Host UE Varna (5-0) smashed guests from Stara Zagora (2-2) 108-89. UE Varna dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Beroe-2's 42. They outrebounded Beroe-2 44-20 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. UE Varna players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Nikolay Grozev (200-94) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Nikolay Georgiev (205-95) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Martin Radnev (192-89) answered with 29 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Milen Dudev (178-94) added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Beroe-2. Five UE Varna and four Beroe-2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. UE Varna maintains first place in A with 5-0 record. Newly promoted Beroe-2 keeps the third position with two games lost. UE Varna will play against Shumen (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Beroe-2 will play against the league's second-placed Chavdar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
