Superleague top team - Kyiv Basket (10-0) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Rivne (5-6) 83-53. Kyiv Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Rivne's 30. Kyiv Basket forced 23 Rivne turnovers and outrebounded them 51-29 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kyiv Basket made 7 blocks. It was a quality performance for the former international swingman Anna Olkhovyk (188-87, agency: Promotex) who led the winners and scored 12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Tetyana Yurkevicius (187-95) accounted for 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. Center Tetiana Havrylchyk (196-0) came up with 10 points and 8 rebounds and forward Iryna Basalyk (176-85) added 15 points and 4 steals respectively for Rivne in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Kyiv Basket. Newly promoted Kyiv Basket maintains first place with 10-0 record. Rivne lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the third position with six games lost. Kyiv Basket will meet HAI (#4) in the next round. Rivne will play against Tavriyska Zirka and hope to secure a win.
