Regular Season Round 9: Opladen - Braunschweig 69-40

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked SG BBZ Opladen (5-3) outplayed 9th ranked Braunschweig (2-5) in Leverkusen 69-40 on Saturday. The game without a history. SG BBZ Opladen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Braunschweig to just 6 points in second quarter. SG BBZ Opladen held Braunschweig to an opponent 22.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners. It was a good game for point guard Nicola Happel (164-92) who led her team to a victory with 14 points and 5 assists. Center Mareike Nettersheim (186-83) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. SG BBZ Opladen's coach Birgit Kunel felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SG BBZ Opladen maintains fourth place in North with 5-3 record, which they share with Wolfenbuettel. Braunschweig at the other side keeps the ninth position with five games lost. SG BBZ Opladen will face Rotenburg/Scheessel (#7) on the road in the next round. Braunschweig will play against Baskets Grunberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
