Regular Season Round 9: Speyer - Rhein MB 48-56

Everything could happen in Dudenhofen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Rhein Main Baskets and 11th ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt had identical 2-5 record. But Speyer / Schifferstadt was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Langen 56-48 on Saturday night. Speyer / Schifferstadt was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Rhein Main Baskets held Speyer / Schifferstadt to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 30.6 percent accuracy of the winners. It was a good game for Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (182-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Nelli Dietrich (169-89) contributed with 9 points and 6 assists for the winners. Rhein Main Baskets' coach Peter Kortmann used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Annika Netter (172) answered with 11 points and swingman Anja Jalalpoor (170-90) added 4 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Speyer / Schifferstadt. Rhein Main Baskets (3-5) moved-up to ninth place in South. Speyer / Schifferstadt at the other side dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will face higher ranked Keltern II (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Speyer / Schifferstadt will play against Weiterstadt (#3) and hope to win that game.
