Regular Season Round 10: Iserlohn - Coburg 73-71
Date: November 18, 2017
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Coburg (3-7) was edged on the road by third ranked Iserlohn (8-2) 73-71 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Iserlohn forced 19 Coburg turnovers. Strangely Coburg outrebounded Iserlohn 44-29 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Coburg was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Julian Scott (203-90, college: Adams St.) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Soeren Fritze (190-94) contributed with 17 points and 5 steals for the winners. Four Iserlohn players scored in double figures. American guard Byron Sanford (183-93, college: Trevecca Naz.) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and guard Steffen Walde (190-92) added 22 points in the effort for Coburg. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Iserlohn have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position in South with 8-2 record behind leader Elchingen. Coburg lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Iserlohn will face league's second-placed Dragons Rhoendorf at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Coburg will play against Titans (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
