Regular Season Round 6: Yakin Dogu - Fenerbahce 65-78

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Yakin Dogu (5-1) in Istanbul on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Fenerbahce (6-0) 78-65. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Yakin Dogu. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American guard Kelsey Plum (173-94, college: Washington) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Ayse Cora (175-93, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 20 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Jantel Lavender (191-88, college: Ohio St.) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Kayla McBride (180-92, college: Notre Dame) scored 17 points. Fenerbahce have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record, which they share with Hatay. Defending champion Yakin Dogu keeps the third place with one game lost. Fenerbahce is looking forward to face league's second-placed Hatay at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yakin Dogu will play against Ormanspor in Ankara and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
