Regular Season Round 6: Cukurova - Canik Belediye 63-61

Bottom-ranked Cukurova managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Cukurova edged ninth-ranked Canik Belediye in Mersin 63-61. American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Cukurova players scored in double figures. Cukurova's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, college: Colorado, agency: ProDep Management) with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-85, college: USC) scored 14 points. Cukurova (3-3) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Botas and Galatasaray. Canik Belediye lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Cukurova will face higher ranked Abdullah Gul (#4) in Kayseri in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Canik Belediye will play on the road against Adana ASKI (#12) in Mersin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
