Regular Season Round 6: Vaerlose - Horsholm 53-65

Undefeated leader Horsholm delivered the seventh consecutive victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Vaerlose (1-5) 65-53. The game was mostly controlled by Horsholm. Vaerlose was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Horsholm won last quarter 21-11. They also forced 19 Vaerlose turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian forward Ivana Jovanovic (185-85) contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Horsholm's coach Jesper Krone Rasmussen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Paige Cashin (193-95, college: S.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 24 rebounds and forward Annemie Espensen (179-97) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Vaerlose. Horsholm (7-0) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Vaerlose lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Horsholm will play against league's second-placed Virum on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vaerlose will play against Lemvig and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
