Regular Season Round 9: Bad Homburg - Jahn Muenchen 77-71

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Friendsfactory Germering (3-4) lost on the road to second ranked Homburger TG (7-2) 77-71 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Friendsfactory Germering trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-77 at the end of the game. Homburger TG made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Homburger TG outrebounded Friendsfactory Germering 41-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for naturalized Bulgarian guard Gergana Georgieva (181-87) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Canadian guard Alexandra Polishchuk (168-87, college: Laurentian) contributed with 15 points and 9 assists for the winners. Four Homburger TG players scored in double figures. Homburger TG's coach Jay Brown used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Emily Bessoir (192-1) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Polish forward Mirela Damaschek (186-88) added 13 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Friendsfactory Germering. Homburger TG have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in South with 7-2 record having just one point less than leader Freiburg. Friendsfactory Germering lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Homburger TG will face league's leader Eisvogel Freiburg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Friendsfactory Germering will play against Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
