Regular Season Round 9: Chemnitz - Goettingen 54-75

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (3-6) was crushed at home by eleventh ranked Goettingen (2-7) 75-54. The game was mostly controlled by Goettingen. ChemCats Chemnitz was better in second period 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ChemCats Chemnitz to just 7 points in third quarter. Goettingen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to ChemCats Chemnitz's 26. Goettingen forced 20 ChemCats Chemnitz turnovers. American guard Marissa Janning (173-93, college: Creighton) nailed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and her fellow American import swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) accounted for 21 points. Swedish forward Abigail Asoro (183-93, college: Iowa Western CC) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Valerie McQuade (183-93, college: Niagara) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for ChemCats Chemnitz in the defeat. Newly promoted Goettingen maintains eleventh place with 2-7 record. ChemCats Chemnitz at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Goettingen's next round opponent will be higher ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (#9) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
