Regular Season Round 9: Kibirkstis - Siauliai-Univ. 100-48

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Kibirkstis as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kibirkstis smashed bottom-ranked Siauliai-Univ. in Vilnius 100-48. Kibirkstis dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Siauliai-Univ.'s 30. Kibirkstis forced 24 Siauliai-Univ. turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Siauliai-Univ.'s players. International forward Gabija Meskonyte (181-98) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and American forward Shenita Landry (188-87, college: Temple) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Kibirkstis players scored in double figures. Kibirkstis' coach Jurgita Streimikyte felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Dominyka Paliulyte (172-1) with 13 points and center Enrika Matiukaite (191-0) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sirenos and Suduva. Siauliai-Univ. at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Siauliai-Univ. will play next round against strong Suduva trying to get back on the winning streak. Kibirkstis will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Fortuna in Klaipeda.
