We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Kaunas where eighth ranked Ereliai Mazeikiai (8-8) beat 7th ranked Zalgiris II (8-8) 79-70 on Saturday. Ereliai Mazeikiai forced 27 Zalgiris II turnovers. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded Ereliai Mazeikiai 38-19 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. At the losing side international power forward Gytis Masiulis (206-98) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Martynas Arlauskas (197-0) scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Ereliai Mazeikiai have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Zalgiris II and Taurages. Ereliai Mazeikiai will meet at home higher ranked Silute (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zalgiris II will play against Palanga and hope to secure a win.
