Regular Season Round 8: Boa Viagem - Olivais 53-57

Olivais can celebrate finally their first win this season after seven consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Angra Heroismo, where they defeated Boa Viagem (3-6) 57-53 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 18-7. But Boa Viagem won third quarter 15-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olivais dominated on the defensive end, holding Boa Viagem to just 7 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Mozambican Vania Sengo (-96) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds and Brazilian guard Taina Paixao (176-91) who added 15 points during the contest. Ugandan forward Claire Lamunu (185-93, college: Vanguard) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and Sara Ressurreicao (170-93) scored 12 points and 4 steals. Four Boa Viagem players scored in double figures. Olivais maintains eleventh position with 1-7 record, which they share with Ovarense. Loser Boa Viagem dropped to the tenth place with six games lost. Olivais will meet at home higher ranked Vitoria SC (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Boa Viagem will play against Ovarense and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
