Regular Season Round 7: Vaerlose - Lemvig 73-75

Date: November 26, 2017
The most exciting game of round 7 in the Dameligaen took place in Vaerlose. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Vaerlose (1-6) to sixth ranked Lemvig (1-7) 75-73 on Sunday evening. Vaerlose was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Lemvig looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Vaerlose helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Deanna Mayza (170-94, college: Hartford) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 assists. Her fellow American import forward Lisa Murphy (185-94, college: Carnegie Mellon) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Trine Drejer (-98) answered with 12 points and 6 assists and forward Ellen Svendsen (176-99) added 16 points in the effort for Vaerlose. Four Vaerlose players scored in double figures. Vaerlose's coach Anja Andersen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lemvig maintains sixth place with 1-7 record. It was Vaerlose's fourth loss in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Lemvig are looking forward to face league's second-placed Virum on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vaerlose will play against SISU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
