There was a surprise result in Langen where ninth ranked Rhein Main Baskets (4-5) beat one of their biggest challengers Keltern II (4-5) 71-67 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Keltern II was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (182-89) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Pia Dietrich (168-94) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Jasmine Smith (183, college: San Jose St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and Leonie Elbert (169-96) scored 18 points. Rhein Main Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Keltern II. Rhein Main Baskets will face Don Bosco Bamberg (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Keltern II will play against Weiterstadt (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
