Regular Season Round 9: Mersin Gelisim - Bayrakli 66-49

There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Bayrakli (3-6) was defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked Mersin Gelisim (3-6) 66-49 on Sunday. Mersin Gelisim looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Rachel Mitchell (201-92, college: Texas A&M) who scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Irem Kanberoglu (-97) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Revaziye Atila (-88, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) who recorded 24 points and 9 rebounds and Eyfel Akar (-87, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mersin Gelisim moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with defeated Bayrakli. Mersin Gelisim will meet bottom-ranked Yalova Vip (#18) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bayrakli will play against Orduspor (#17) and hope to secure a win.
