Regular Season Round 11: Crailsheim - Hamburg 82-72

The game between Top Four teams took place in Crailsheim. First ranked host Crailsheim Merlins (10-1) defeated 3rd placed Hamburg (8-3) 82-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hamburg. Crailsheim Merlins dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hamburg's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hamburg's players. Crailsheim Merlins brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 blocks. American point guard Frank Turner (178-88, college: Canisius, agency: Inception Sports) accounted for 14 points and 10 assists for the winning side. Croatian point guard Hrvoje Kovacevic (190-86) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Anthony Canty (183-91) added 16 points respectively for Hamburg in the defeat. Five Crailsheim Merlins and four Hamburg players scored in double figures. Hamburg's coach Hamed Attarbashi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Crailsheim Merlins have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-1 record. Hamburg at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Crailsheim Merlins will play against bottom-ranked Baunach (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hamburg will play against Kirchheim Knights (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
