There was no surprise when 10th ranked Electrico FC (2-7) was edged by seventh ranked Lusitania (4-6) in Ponte de Sor 91-90 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Electrico FC was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Dominique Coleman (198-88, college: Francis Marion) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Four McGlynn (188-92, college: Rhode Island) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Cape Verdean forward Kevin Coronel (197-91) answered with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American center Brian Stone (203-94, college: Malone) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Electrico FC. Four Electrico FC players scored in double figures. Electrico FC's coach Marco Galego rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Lusitania went down to eighth position due to points difference. Electrico FC lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Lusitania will face higher ranked Terceira (#7) in Angra Heroismo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Electrico FC will play on the road against FC Porto Ferpinta and hope to win that game.
