Regular Season Round 17: Neptunas-Akv. - Taurages 74-72

Seventh-ranked Taurages (8-9) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Neptunas-Akv. (12-5) in Klaipeda on Friday. Neptunas-Akv. managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected easier game. 25 personal fouls committed by Taurages helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Mindaugas Stasys (179-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 4 assists. Mantas Serksnas (200-96, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Paulius Morkeliunas (202-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Tadas Sebeziovas (185-85) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Taurages. Four Taurages players scored in double figures. Neptunas-Akv. have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Silute and Suduva-Mantinga. Taurages lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Jonava and Ereliai Mazeikiai. Neptunas-Akv. is looking forward to face Ezerunas (#11) in Moletai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Taurages will play on the road against Suduva-Mantinga (#3) in Marijampole and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
