Regular Season Round 7: BC Timisoara - Steaua CSM 86-83

A very close game took place in Timisoara between BC Timisoara and Steaua CSM. Third ranked BC Timisoara (5-2) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Steaua CSM (4-3). BC Timisoara managed to escape with a 3-point win 86-83 on Friday evening. Steaua CSM trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 25-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 83-86 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Steaua CSM 35-23 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Serbian point guard Igor Mijajlovic (192-84) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 assists. Cuban-American center Adrian Diaz (213-93, college: FIU) helped adding 22 points and 5 rebounds. BC Timisoara's coach Tudor Costescu used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American point guard Brandon Taylor (178-94, college: Utah) responded with 24 points and Bulgarian Pavel Marinov (199-88) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Four Steaua CSM players scored in double figures. BC Timisoara maintains third place with 5-2 record behind leader Pitesti, which they share with Phoenix Galati. Loser Steaua CSM dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with CSU Sibiu and Craiova. BC Timisoara will meet Oradea (#5) on the road in the next round. Steaua CSM will play against the league's second-placed UBT Cluj Napoca and hope to secure a win.
