Regular Season Round 12: Gotha II - Vilsbiburg 91-62

Date: December 2, 2017
Undefeated Vilsbiburg (10-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fourth ranked Gotha II. Visitors were rolled over by Gotha II 91-62. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Vilsbiburg. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in South-East. Gotha II dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Vilsbiburg's 24. They outrebounded Vilsbiburg 60-35 including a 41-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gotha II players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Vilsbiburg's players. The winners were led by Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamae (190-99) who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) supported him with 18 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Gotha II players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by American swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane) did not help to save the game for Vilsbiburg. French guard Jordan Aboki (190-93) added 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gotha II (9-2) moved-up to second place in South-East, which they share with Treuchtlingen and Oberhaching. Vilsbiburg at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Gotha II will play against GGZ Baskets (#14) in Zwickau in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Vilsbiburg will play at home against Herzogenaurach (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
