Regular Season Round 11: Bad Aibling - Goettingen 86-60

Date: December 2, 2017
Very expected game in Bad Aibling where 11th ranked Goettingen (2-9) was crushed by fourth ranked Fireballs (7-4) 86-60 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fireballs. Goettingen was better in fourth quarter 29-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Fireballs outrebounded Goettingen 54-24 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Lindsay Sherbert (184, college: Gonzaga) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Forward Destinee Young (185-95, college: ODU) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Five Fireballs players scored in double figures. Guard Marissa Janning (173-93, college: Creighton) responded with 17 points and swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) scored 10 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fireballs have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Donau-Ries. Newly promoted Goettingen keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Fireballs will face league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Goettingen will play against BasCats Heidelberg (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
