Regular Season Round 12: Afyon - Petkim 77-74

Sixteenth-ranked Socar Petkim (2-10) was very close to win a game against second ranked Afyon Bld (10-2) in Afyonkarahisar on Saturday. Afyon Bld managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Afyon Bld looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Cevher Ozer (206-83, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four Afyon Bld players scored in double figures. American point guard Adam Smith (185-92, college: Georgia Tech) replied with 29 points and 5 assists and Bulgarian power forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: BeoBasket) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Socar Petkim. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Afyon Bld have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-2 record having just two points less than leader Turk Telekom. Socar Petkim at the other side dropped to the seventeenth place with ten games lost. Afyon Bld are looking forward to face Samsun (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Socar Petkim will play against Bakirkoy and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
