Regular Season Round 12: Cuxhaven - ETB Wohnbau 83-65

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Cuxhaven (3-9) defeated at home higher ranked ETB Wohnbau (7-5) 83-65 on Saturday. Cuxhaven made 28-of-33 free shots (84.8 percent) during the game. Cuxhaven outrebounded ETB Wohnbau 37-23 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. ETB Wohnbau was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Moritz Huebner (200-97) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Terence Smith (193-91, college: Mississippi) chipped in 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Cuxhaven players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Montrael Scott (190-93, college: Prairie View A&M) who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian Nick Tufegdzich (203-92) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. ETB Wohnbau's coach Igor Krizanovic rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Cuxhaven maintains eleventh position in North with 3-9 record. Loser ETB Wohnbau keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Cuxhaven will face higher ranked AstroStars (#7) in Bochum in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. ETB Wohnbau will play at home against Oldenburg and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
