Regular Season Round 7: Vasco - Academico FC 77-67

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Academico FC (1-6) lost to fifth ranked Vasco (3-4) in Porto 67-77 on Saturday. Academico FC was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Vasco forced 22 Academico FC turnovers. It was a very good performance for forward Paulo Vieira (192-94) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Miguel Toreia (180-93) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Guard Rui Sousa (190-83) answered with 18 points and point guard Goncalo Gorito (172-96) added 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Academico FC. Five Academico FC players scored in double figures. Academico FC's coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vasco moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Sanjoanense and Dragon Force. Academico FC lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. Vasco will face league's leader Esgueira / Oli at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Academico FC's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Porto to the arena Dragon Force.
