Regular Season Round 8: Vaerlose - SISU 67-66

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Dameligaen took place in Vaerlose. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers SISU (3-5) to fifth ranked Vaerlose (2-6) 67-66 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-66. Vaerlose looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Trine Drejer (-98) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and forward Frida Formann (178-1) who added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Vaerlose's coach Anja Andersen used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Kama Griffitts (183-91, college: Arizona) responded with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and forward Catharina Jensen (182-89) scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted Vaerlose maintains fifth position with 2-6 record. SISU at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Vaerlose are looking forward to face higher ranked Stevnsgade (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SISU will play against the league's second-placed Virum and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
