Regular Season Round 11: Opladen - Osnabrueck SC 57-82

Leader Osnabrueck SC delivered the ninth victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked SG BBZ Opladen (5-5) 82-57 in Leverkusen. It looked good early as SG BBZ Opladen took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Osnabrueck SC had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and SG BBZ Opladen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 57-82. Osnabrueck SC dominated on the defensive end, holding SG BBZ Opladen to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to SG BBZ Opladen's 22. Osnabrueck SC forced 19 SG BBZ Opladen turnovers. It was a quality performance for American forward Jacinda Myers-Sanders (187, college: Arkansas Tech) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Point guard Ramona Tews (172-92) accounted for 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Osnabrueck SC players scored in double figures. Point guard Nicola Happel (164-92) came up with 20 points and center Mareike Nettersheim (186-83) added 7 points and 8 rebounds respectively for SG BBZ Opladen in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osnabrueck SC have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place in North with 9-1 record. SG BBZ Opladen at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Osnabrueck SC's next round opponent will be Baskets Grunberg (#10) in Gruenberg and are hoping to win another game. SG BBZ Opladen will play at home against Recklinghausen (#11) and hope to win that game.
