Regular Season Round 8: Rivne - Tavriyska Zirka 75-64

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zirka (0-12) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to third ranked Rivne (7-6) 75-64. Rivne dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tavriyska Zirka's 26. They outrebounded Tavriyska Zirka 45-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. Rivne players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The winners were led by Viktoriya Shmatova who scored that evening 17 points and 7 assists and forward Liudmyla Spyrydonova (180-84) supported her with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Rivne players scored in double figures. Rivne's coach Vyacheslav Kovaleskyy allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. They maintain third position with 7-6 record having two points less than leader Kyiv Basket. Tavriyska Zirka at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Rivne will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tavriyska Zirka will play at home against Dynamo-NPU (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
