There was a small surprise in Gruenberg where tenth ranked Baskets Grunberg (3-7) smashed 7th ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (4-5) 71-48 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Baskets Grunberg. Rotenburg/Scheessel was better in fourth quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baskets Grunberg dominated on the defensive end, holding Rotenburg/Scheessel to just 5 points in third quarter. They held Rotenburg/Scheessel to an opponent 23.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Rotenburg/Scheessel 44-27 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Margaret Proffitt (175, college: Cent.Arkansas) who scored 23 points. Swingman Isabell Meinhart (178-94) chipped in 6 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Baskets Grunberg's coach Aleksandra Kojic felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American center Cassidy Clark (186, college: Truman St.) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Pia Mankertz (170-90) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Baskets Grunberg moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with B.Loewen. Loser Rotenburg/Scheessel keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Baskets Grunberg will face league's leader Osnabrueck SC at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
