Hannover (6-5) outlasted Gruner Stern Keltern (9-2) in overtime by eight points 76-68 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gruner Stern Keltern. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gruner Stern Keltern won third quarter 15-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Gruner Stern Keltern used huge pressure winning it 17-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-17. Hannover made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Hannover outrebounded Gruner Stern Keltern 54-33 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American Melissa Jeltema (175-88, college: Oakland) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 16 rebounds. The former international Birte Thimm (180-87) helped adding 7 points and 13 rebounds. Hannover's coach Rodger Battersby used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Amber Orrange (170-93, college: Stanford, agency: LBM Management) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import power forward Schaquilla Nunn (190-94, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Hannover moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Marburg and Herner. Gruner Stern Keltern at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Hannover will face BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#7) on the road in the next round. Gruner Stern Keltern will play against SV Halle Lions (#10) and hope to win that game.
