Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Kirchheim Knights (6-6) were defeated on the road by third ranked Hamburg (9-3) 77-72 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hamburg made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game, while Kirchheim Knights only scored six points from the stripe. Hamburg had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and center Justin Raffington (205-91, college: Florida Atlantic) who added 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Hamburg's coach Hamed Attarbashi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Toney McCray (196-89, college: Nebraska) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Swedish point guard Charles Barton (193-92, college: Oregon St., agency: Diamond Sports) scored 14 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hamburg maintains third position with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Crailsheim. Loser Kirchheim Knights dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. They share the position with Hanau. Hamburg will meet Koeln Rh.Stars (#4) on the road in the next round. Kirchheim Knights will play against the league's second-placed SC Rasta Vechta (#2) and hope to secure a win.
