Regular Season Round 11: B.Loewen - Recklinghausen 57-68

Recklinghausen can celebrate finally their first win this season after nine consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Loewen, where they defeated B.Loewen (3-7) 68-57 on Sunday. B.Loewen was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Recklinghausen dominated on the defensive end, holding B.Loewen to just 4 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for center Leonie Bleker (189-90) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 15 rebounds. Bosnian forward Lejla Bejtic (176-85) helped adding 18 points. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. American guard Deeshyra Thomas (168-95, college: Weber St.) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and forward Luca Marre (177) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted Recklinghausen maintains eleventh place in North with 1-9 record. It was B.Loewen's fourth loss in a row. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Gruenberg. Recklinghausen will meet higher ranked SG BBZ Opladen (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. B.Loewen will play against TG Neuss and will have a slim chance for a victory.
