Regular Season Round 12: Crailsheim - Baunach 116-64

Leader Crailsheim Merlins delivered the eleventh win on Sunday night. This time they crushed 16th ranked Baunach (1-11) 116-64. Crailsheim Merlins made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Crailsheim Merlins outrebounded Baunach 42-23 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Crailsheim Merlins looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Baunach's players. The best player for the winners was Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: Cal.Baptist) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Tuomas Iisalo felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Tibor Taras (197-97) who recorded 15 points and 6 assists and Australian guard William McDowell-White (195-98, college: Fresno St.) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. Crailsheim Merlins (11-1) have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Baunach at the other side stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Crailsheim Merlins are looking forward to face Nuernberg (#13) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Baunach will play against Chemnitz and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
