Regular Season Round 7: Sampaense - Beira Mar 66-56

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Sampaense (6-1) beat bottom-ranked Beira Mar (0-7) in Coimbra 66-56 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-56. It was a very good performance for forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) who helped to win the game recording 7 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Helder Carvalho (205-84, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Sampaense's coach Claudio Figueiredo used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Andre Jackson (198, college: Bowie St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and forward Joao Neves (193-91) added 8 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Beira Mar. Sampaense keeps a position of North leader, which they share with Maia Basket and Esgueira. Newly promoted Beira Mar still closes the standings with seven games lost. Sampaense will face league's second-placed Maia Basket at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Beira Mar will play against Sanjoanense (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
