Regular Season Round 7: NSA - Slavia 59-82

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Sofia: Slavia (#2) and NSA (#4). NSA was crushed at home by 23 points 59-82 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of NSA. The game without a history. Slavia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 27 NSA turnovers. Slavia players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Stefka Nikolova (173-90) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Antonia Filipova (180-98) accounted for 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Five Slavia players scored in double figures. Slavia's coach Silvia Peeva felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Maria Svetoslavova (179-93) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Zornitsa Naydenova (170-89) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for NSA in the defeat. Slavia have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of West leader, which they share with Montana 2003. NSA at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Levski. Slavia will play against league's leader Montana 2003 at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. NSA's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Septemvri 97.
