Regular Season Round 9: Cluj Napoca - Timisoara 91-76

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Cluj Napoca (4-5) defeated at home 5th ranked Timisoara (4-5) 91-76 on Tuesday. Cluj Napoca shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Timisoara's players. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Leslie Vorpahl (168-95, college: Tulane) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Theairra Taylor (180-91, college: Iowa) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Four Cluj Napoca players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Maegan Conwright (173-92, college: Florida St.) who recorded 27 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Dlesha Lloyd (179-86, college: Clemson) added 21 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Timisoara's coach tested eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cluj Napoca maintains fifth place with 4-5 record, which they share with defeated Timisoara. Cluj Napoca will meet higher ranked Satu Mare (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Timisoara will play against the league's leader Sf.Gheorghe in Sfantu Gheorghe and hope to secure a win.
