Regular Season Round 8: Oliveirense - Illiabum 78-67

The game between Top Four teams took place in Oliveira. Second ranked host Oliveirense (8-2) defeated 4th ranked Illiabum (6-4) 78-67. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 31-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Oliveirense made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Oliveirense outrebounded Illiabum 40-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and American center Eric Coleman (200-85, college: N.Iowa) who added 20 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) during the contest. Four Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Oliveirense's coach Norberto Alves used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jeff Early (190-88, college: S.Illinois) responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ronnie Boggs (192-91, college: Jacksonville St.) scored 15 points. Oliveirense maintains second position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Benfica. Illiabum at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with FC Porto and CAB Madeira. Oliveirense are looking forward to face Vitoria SC (#3) in Guimaraes in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Illiabum will play at home against the league's leader Benfica and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
