Regular Season Round 9: Sf.Gheorghe - Cluj Napoca 82-66

Liga Nationala top team - Sf.Gheorghe (9-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Cluj Napoca (4-5) in Sfantu Gheorghe 82-66. Sf.Gheorghe made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Cluj Napoca turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Tyaunna Marshall (175-92, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. International point guard Annemarie Godri-Parau (172-84) chipped in 20 points, 6 assists and 4 steals (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Sf.Gheorghe's coach Zoran Mikes used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Amanda Thompson (178-87, college: Oklahoma) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Bosnian center Aida Kalusic (189-87) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Cluj Napoca players scored in double figures. Sf.Gheorghe have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. Cluj Napoca at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Timisoara. Sf.Gheorghe will meet at home Timisoara (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Cluj Napoca will play against Satu Mare and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
