Regular Season Round 20: KTU - Jonava 81-79

Bottom-ranked KTU managed to get a third victory, breaking the nine-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they edged sixth-ranked Jonava in Kaunas 81-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Jonava. The winners were led by forward Ignas Dauksys (198-93) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 rebounds and Augustas Zilinskas (197-97) supported him with 11 points and 6 rebounds. KTU's coach Vytautas Pliauga used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by forward Karolis Sarukas (198-95) did not help to save the game for Jonava. Forward Mykolas Dieninis (197-97) added 17 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KTU maintains fourteenth position with 3-17 record. Loser Jonava keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Zalgiris II and Taurages. KTU will meet at home higher ranked Palanga (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jonava will play against the league's leader Vytis (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
