Also Blackbirds (#4) were upset in Vienna by eighth ranked Flames 79-51. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Blackbirds. Flames held Blackbirds to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.6 percent accuracy of the winners and made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Flames outrebounded Blackbirds 44-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American Jason Chappell (208-83, college: Wisconsin) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds. Serbian Vladimir Gavranic (202-87, college: Abil.Christian) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Christoph Astl (187-88) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Philipp Horvath (175-87) added 9 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames maintains eighth position with 6-6 record. Newly promoted Blackbirds keep the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Lions. Flames will meet at home higher ranked Raiders (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
