Regular Season Round 13: Schalke - Rostock 64-68

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Schalke (11-2) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Rostock (7-6) 68-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Schalke. Strangely Schalke outrebounded Rostock 42-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brandon Lockhart (185-90, college: Drury) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. Swingman Dennis Teucher (200-96) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Rostock players scored in double figures. Naturalized American forward Shawn Gulley (201-93, college: Temple JC) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Schalke. Schalke's coach Raphael Wilder rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rostock moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with ETB Wohnbau and Bochum. Schalke at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Rostock is looking forward to face Cuxhaven (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Schalke will play against AstroStars (#7) in Bochum and is hoping to win this game.
