Very predictable result when ninth ranked Elazig (7-5) defeated at home 14th ranked Mersin Gelisim (3-9) 71-62. Elazig made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Elazig had a 33-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest, agency: Gamble Sports Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 17 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Forward Gamze Turkoglu (195-83) contributed with 4 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Power forward Betul Erkoyuncu (190-96) replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Yaren Uslular (167-97, agency: LBM Management) added 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Mersin Gelisim. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Elazig moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Urla BLD and Izmit. Mersin Gelisim lost third consecutive game.
