Regular Season Round 9: Hoverla - Rivne 71-86

Undefeated Hoverla (6-1) recorded its first loss in Ivano-Frankivsk on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Rivne-OSHVSM (5-2) 86-71. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hoverla. Rivne-OSHVSM forced 22 Hoverla turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Hoverla helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was guard Dmitro Timoshuk (189-95) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Forward Anatoly Dubniuk (202-76) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Five Rivne-OSHVSM players scored in double figures. Rivne-OSHVSM's coach Mikhail Pereverziy used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Yevgen Koroviyakov (199-88) who recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Andriy Kalashnikov (175-89) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Rivne-OSHVSM have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 5-2 record having six points less than leader Dinamo-Bipa. Hoverla at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. Rivne-OSHVSM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hoverla will play again at home against Rivne-OSHVSM and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
