Regular Season Round 9: Istanbul Univ. - Besiktas 62-92

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Besiktas (#8) and Istanbul Uni (#13). Istanbul Uni was crushed at home by 30 points 62-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Besiktas players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was a good game for American Bernice Mosby (186-84, college: Baylor, agency: ProDep Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Croatian-American guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Belgian point guard Julie Vanloo (172-93) answered with 20 points and 4 assists and Nigerian-American center Aisha Mohammed (191-85, college: Virginia) added 12 points in the effort for Istanbul Uni. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Besiktas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Botas and Galatasaray. Istanbul Uni at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Besiktas' next round opponent will be Adana ASKI (#11) in Mersin which should be theoretically another easy game. Istanbul Uni's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Yakin Dogu.
