Regular Season Round 9: Galatasaray - Canik Belediye 78-86

An interesting game took place in Istanbul where higher ranked Galatasaray (5-4) was upset on its own court by tenth ranked Canik Belediye (4-5) 86-78 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Galatasaray. Canik Belediye made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: ProDep Management) who had a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-85, college: USC) chipped in 28 points and 7 rebounds. Four Canik Belediye players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international guard Isil Alben (170-86, agency: ProDep Management) who recorded 18 points and 6 assists and French point guard Olivia Epoupa (165-94) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Canik Belediye moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Mersin BSB and Cukurova. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Besiktas and Botas. Canik Belediye will meet at home league's leader Fenerbahce in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Galatasaray will play against Abdullah Gul (#4) in Kayseri and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
