There was a minor upset in Samokov where 5th ranked Balkan 2 (2-7) was defeated by seventh ranked Rilski 2 (2-6) 63-58 on Sunday. Rilski 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Balkan 2's 28. They outrebounded Balkan 2 48-31 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Swingman Miroslav Vasov (199-98) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Kristiyan Kolev (194-99) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Rilski 2's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Zdravko Hristov (184-97) produced 30 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Rumen Vasilev (205-96) added 13 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Rilski 2 moved-up to fifth place in A. Newly promoted Balkan 2 dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Rilski 2 will face CSKA (#7) in Sofia in the next round. Balkan 2 will play at home against the league's second-placed Athletic Sofia and hope to win that game.
