Regular Season Round 9: Rilski - Balkan 86-71

There was a change at the NBL leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Balkan (6-2). They were defeated by third ranked Rilski (6-2) 86-71 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. Rilski led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Travis Taylor (203-90, college: Xavier) stepped up and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (197-85) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Rilski's coach Ludmil Hadjisotirov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Devin Brooks (186-92, college: Creighton) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian center Igor Kesar (210-92, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Rilski have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Balkan. Balkan will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Rilski will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Levski 2014 in Sofia.
