Leader Crailsheim Merlins delivered the twelfth victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 13th ranked Nuernberg (4-9) 74-46. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nuernberg. Crailsheim Merlins dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Nuernberg's 28. Forward Patrick Flomo (203-80, college: Ohio) stepped up and scored 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and forward Michael Jost (203-88) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Five Crailsheim Merlins players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso, agency: Athleadz) responded with 9 points and 5 rebounds and Moritz Sanders (211-98) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Crailsheim Merlins. They maintain first place with 12-1 record. Loser Nuernberg dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. They share it with Uni Baskets. Crailsheim Merlins will meet White Wings (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nuernberg will play against OrangeAcademy (#14) in Ulm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
