Regular Season Round 13: Bayer Giants - Coburg 77-65

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Bayer Giants (6-7) beat 10th ranked Coburg (3-10) in Leverkusen 77-65 on Sunday. Bayer Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Coburg's 20. Coburg was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Alexander Blessig (188-93, college: Rollins) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 assists. American forward Bruce Beckford (203-94, college: N.Carolina A&T) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Jordan Burris (201-92, college: CS San Bernar.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Byron Sanford (183-93, college: Trevecca Naz.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Coburg. Five Bayer Giants and four Coburg players scored in double figures. Bayer Giants maintains eighth place in South with 6-7 record. Coburg lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Bayer Giants will face Wuerzburg (#12) at home in the next round. Coburg will play against the league's leader Elchingen having rather not much hope for a victory.
