Regular Season Round 9: Fenerbahce - Cukurova 78-73

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Fenerbahce as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Fenerbahce defeated 8th ranked Cukurova in Istanbul 78-73. American forward Aerial Powers (183-94, college: Michigan St.) stepped up and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Belarusian center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Erlana Larkins (185-86, college: N.Carolina) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Hatay and Yakin Dogu. Newly promoted Cukurova keeps the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Mersin BSB and Canik Belediye. Cukurova will play next round against Ormanspor trying to get back on the winning streak. Fenerbahce will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Canik Belediye in Samsun.
